Oregon Unemployment Insurance Benefits: Advocating for Low-Income Claimants

Unemployment insurance (UI) benefits are the sole means of temporary wage replacement for workers and are crucial in preventing individuals and families from spiraling into poverty.


Markowitz Herbold attorney and pro bono lawyer for Legal Aid Services of Oregon, Dallas DeLuca, is participating in a panel discussion on representing low-income claimants with UI benefits controversies in Oregon, the need for pro bono assistance, and how private attorneys and legal aid advocates can get involved and provide critical help.


Other panelists include Brett Cattani, LASO, Courtney Crowe, LASO, Beth Englander, Oregon Law Center, and Melissa Haggerty, LASO, will provide a panel discussion of the applicable statutes and administrative rules, most common UI case types, and advice on case preparation and UI administrative hearing strategies.
